Spiral Glass Column

As part of ESW 2018 and in collaboration with Nafpliotis Glass, Decode Fab Lab organized a seminar on the fundamental principles of parametric design using Grasshopper3D, as well as the process of preparing and fabricating 2D and 3D models using laser cutting and CNC milling techniques.

The “Spiral Glass Column” was an introductory workshop, open to anyone interested in parametric design and fabrication, regardless of skill level. Participants were involved in the entire process—from initial design to the creation of a scaled-down final object—using our lab’s equipment. The prototype was fabricated from glass at Nafpliotis Glass; while the participants visited the facility to observe the production process, and the finished piece was exhibited at the ESW 2018 Design and Architecture Conference at the Onassis Stegi.
