«Architecture in Greece»

Decode fab lab is participating as a supporter of the exhibition “Architecture in Greece – The Mystical Language of Form.”

A major exhibition dedicated to the enduring evolution of architectural creation in Greece—spanning from prehistory to the present day—will be presented from October 17, 2026, to January 17, 2027, at the Hellenic Parliament’s Tobacco Factory in Athens.

The exhibition “Architecture in Greece – The Mysterious Language of Form” offers a synthetic reading of architecture as art, science, cultural expression, and historical record; it unfolds as a dialogue between works from different eras, locations, and scales, exploring continuities, affinities, ruptures, and transformations.

The exhibition narrative takes as its starting point Dimitris Pikionis’s reflections on the “mysterious language of form” and the capacity of form to engage in a dialogue with tradition and historical time. A unifying element is the Greek landscape—both natural and man-made—and the cultural interconnections that shaped it. At the same time, the enduring dialectic between architecture and the other fine arts is highlighted through forms, materials, techniques, and symbolism.

Architectural drawings and sketches, models, photographs, artworks, books, periodicals, film clips, and audiovisual material from major public and private archives form a multifaceted body of documentation. The exhibition addresses both specialists and the general public, presenting architecture as an essential part of the country’s collective memory and cultural identity.

A long-term goal of the initiative is to contribute to the public and institutional dialogue regarding the creation of a Greek Museum of Architecture—a permanent institution dedicated to the research, documentation, preservation, and education concerning architectural production in Greece, as well as its promotion on the international stage.
